Icelandic saga theatre all summer in Isafjordur
The Comedytheatre in the Westfjords of Iceland will perform in English the powerful play Grettir every Tuesday this summer in Isafjordur. Shows will be in Edinborg Cultural Centre Isafjordur and starts at 20.00 every Wednesday. Tickets avalible at West Tours in Edinborg Isafjordur and also in the theatre on performance night.
Ticket price is only 3.500. – ISK or 30 EUR.
Grettir is a theatreplay based on one of the most famous Icelandic sagas. The story of the famous Icelandic outlaw and trouble maker, Grettir Asmundarson, wich comes finaly on the stage as a strong and powerful solo play. Grettir, nicknamed the strong, was rebellious in his childhood, bell both in words and deed but fair of face. Great warrior on the field and so strong that he carried a big bull on his shoulders. He fell both bear and berserks and even a ghost. He was finally outlawed.
Author and actor is Elfar Logi Hannesson.
The play has been performed all around Iceland and also in Canada, Spain and Shetland.
